occurrenceRemarks This is a tentative ID... unfortunately I can’t remember what the guide said this species was, and the photos I got weren’t great. I’m going Marsh Deer over Pampas Deer because of the lack of white markings on the rump.

identificationRemarks By range, I think the only Brockets that this could be are the Gray Brocket (Mazama gouazoubira) or Red Brocket (M. americana). Based on ranges from Wikipedia, these are the only two that occur in the Pantanal. I'm tentatively going to err on the side of Gray Brocket because of the colour. Wikipedia says: "Lighter, browner coats are seen in those that live in grasslands, whereas grayer, darker colors are more prevalent in forest regions," which would match with this location. It also says that colour is a good way to differentiate between Red and Gray brockets. (I've left Red Brocket as a possible species in the Observation Fields though).
