occurrenceRemarks	Epiphytic on trunks of small trees to 3-4m high, 5 to 6 spms growing on neighbouring trees at one spot. Stem from 1cm thick in lower, older part to 5cm thick in terminal leaf-bearing part, in spms seen thinner lower stem portion rotted and plant not connected to ground by stem. Roots of 2 types, some clasping supporting tree trunk horizontally, others running down trunk to ground. Stem bearing pink-flushed buds in some places which occasionally grom out into long stolons with internodes 17-35cm long, 5-7mm thick, branching and bearing reduced scale leaves at nodes except for first 2 or 3 nodes which have small leaves of normal form. Cataphylls of main stem at first membranous, soon whithering to persistent net-fibrous mat. Cut surfaces exuding clear sticky sap and turning dotted dark brown. Petioles green, to 45cm long, cross-section. Lamina above dark shiny green costa sulcate to planar, primary lateral nerves impressed; below lamina paler , shiny, primary lateral nerves and rounded costa prominent, to 42cm long, 32cm broad. In red-spathed form lamina forming an interruption across the upper surface of petiole apex, this ridge less marked in yellow-white-spathed form. Red-spathed form with outside of spathed rich red-purple below becoming red-flushed and sparsely red-spotted white above; white-spathed form with yellow-white spathe slightly paler white below than above. Inside of spathe of red-spathed from rich red-maroon becoming white towards the apex, spadix axis in female portion same colour but pistils with white ovaries and pink-tinged stigmas, stamens off-white. White-spathed form differs in having white inner surface of spathe and female part of spadix axis only pink, pistils and stamens same as red-spathed form
