locality Muncipio de Resende: Itatiaia National Park. Planalto of Mt. Itatiaia. 1/ 2-1 km N of shelter house, ""Abrigo de Reboucas"", in valley leading to the rock outrcrop, ""Pedro do Altar"". (The planalto is a steep hilly terrain on top of the massif, with moutainous outcrops of bare sienite quarts. Hillsides with frequent rounded outcropping quartz rocks and boulders, and a thin, black, almost pure humus soil supporting a periodically-burned, natural tussock sedge-grassland (mainly Cladium) with scattered low Chusquea bamboo and other shrubs. Lower valley sides often with dense Chusquea brakes ot the brooks are ined with marsh of Cladium in sessile tussocks or these raised on erect or decumbent ""turnks"" of dense, tangled, masse rhizomes).
