identificationRemarks Number of dorsal fin rays, location, dentition,... nothing fits to *Hypostomus punctatus*. The teeth are typical for *Pseudacanthicus* (and some related genera) as well as the long pectoral spines, strongly keeled trunk, coarse surface of the snout, the huge size exclude also most of the other genera and species. I was not aware that the odontodes on the pectoral spine can be so weakly developped and the dorsal spine so elongated, but there are pictures in the species description that show the same.
