Campo cerrado (a type of scrubby woodland originally) on upland, or very rarely forest. Open marsh or dense secondary forest (""mata"") along the streams. 22º11-18'S., 47º7-10'W. This habitat: small clearing in forest along brook. Invading bare pinkish-brown sandy soil.
