occurrenceRemarks	Growing in shade with terrestrial bromeliads. Very common in shade of better-developed tree clumps. Stems assurgent up to 0,5m long or more. Internodes in young plants with slender stems up to 2-3 cm long, 1 cm or less in older plants with 4-5 cm thick stems. One spm seen with petioles as long as lamina, having slender stem and long internodes, larger spms usually with petioles much shorter than lamina. Cataphylls persisting as membranous to net-fibrous remains with roots growing through them in larger spms. Petioles rounded on back, adaxial face varying from planar with rounded edges in younger plants to planar with sharp edges or shallowly V-shaped with sharp edges in older larger plants. Petiole length varying greatly relative to leaf, green to yellowish-green, geniculum often yellowish. Lamina to1,5m long, 25 cm broad, above light to dark green, dull to gleaming, costa rounded and some what prominent, venation not prominent; below lamina much paler, shiny, costa triangular with rounded kell: venation not prominent, obscured both sides. Leaf base varying from almost truncate in big spms to acute in smaller ones. Juvenile leaf with cordate base noted. Peduncle to 1m long, with glaucous sheen, dirty greyish mauve-tinged, terete, sometimes almost mauve reddish and coloured to base, sometimes greener at base. Spathe reflexed at more than 90 graus to spadix, mauve-purplish-brown. Stipe very tumid, dark purplish-maroon, glaucous-sheeny, sometimes greener. Margin between stipe and spathe very dark. Spadix to 25 cm long, myosuroid to shortly cylindrical. Young spadices always myosuroid in spms seen. Tepals green when young, becoming dark brown-khaki-green with age. Fruit green.
