identificationRemarks | Thanks @magne! I think it is more likely this species (Methona themisto), an adult of which I observed landing on the same (unidentified) plant. Cinnabar moth is a temperate, not tropical species, its host plant is ragwort, and the yellow bands are broader than those of these caterpillars. However, I don't know if there are other potential confusion species found in Brazil, hence had not put an i.d. |
