occurrenceRemarks | Climber to 2m on small trees, roots clasping tree,. horizontally disposed, another spm seen terrestrial, roots propping it up. Young stem thick, clean, but 4-5 cm thick at widest teminal floriferous party. Cataphylls yellow-green, broadly 2-keeled when young, leaf bearing portion of stem covered with remains of at first light brown membranous cataphylls becoming soft-fibrous-matted. Petioles up to 70 cm long, green, densely pale-green verruculose, red-tinged at very apex, cross-section: Cut surface exuding clear punged-smelling sap and soon turning rusty brown. Lamina above dark green, shiny, primary lateral nerves strongly impressed and costa + or - planar; below lamina paler, shiny, costa and primary lateral nerves strongly prominent; lamina to 70 cm long, 42 cm broad. Spathe green and minutely white dotted around female portion and minutely white dotted around female portion, white around male portion; inside white-green. Stamens cream to slightly dirty flesh-pink, pistils white. |
